A downloadable game for Windows

Dreamspaces is a 3d first person videogame designed in the style of walking simulators. The game has no end goal or objective, the emphasis is placed on exploration, the aesthetic value of the virtual spaces and the experimental aspect of the user experience. The spaces are minimally designed and the interactions and overall information is kept to a minimum. The landscapes, scenes and objects are inspired by my own dreams, some of them are close to exact remakes. The environment encourages each player to make their own connections with the places and rooms, depending on their own personal history.

Depending on the path you choose you'll have a different ending, some routes lead to you finding the exit and some keep you trapped in the game. Most routes are short and some slightly longer, and there's multiple ways to arrive at the same place.

The first room deliberately resembles an art gallery, the environments behind each door are in a way the artworks that are being exhibited.

You move using the WASD keys and mouse, you can run, jump, and interact with the objects around you in two different ways, by pressing E or by clicking on them.

This game is my first ever video game . In addition to fixing some bugs I intent to add some more content and change a few things sometime in the future.

This game saved my life.

I am 42.

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and adopted our son together. They are now both 4 years old.

When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiraling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand... my working hand... my games hand.. the hand that I held and carried my children to bed with.. The hand I desperately needed to make sure I could continue to provide.

After learning of the severity of my self-inflicted damage, I was borderline suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man with no history of depression or anxiety. I have never had fits of rage, or been one to break down and cry, but I was in a low spot that just really buried me from being able to see the light on the other side.

Having nothing better to do, I searched for a game I could play, ONE HANDED while I recovered. I somehow stumbled upon this game and read some of the reviews. I decided that it had to be worth a shot... I must admit, I didn't beat the game, or play nearly as long as some of you. In fact, I may have only played this game a day or two.. With that being said, after doing so, I had a new found joy and hope for life. I was able to put behind me the pain and suffering that had been cast over me. I was able to experience other peoples joy and happiness. I was able to see the fruits of my "labor". I relaxed for 5  minutes to this music long enough to realize that I was going to be okay.

After coming to that realization, I turned the game off, and I went back to work. It hurt my hand like hell but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so damn sorry for myself, and I became the father I needed to be in that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving as.

Today, I am close friend with my kids mother. We don't fight, or argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents, and friends.

I now have 3 kids. My third child is, wait for it, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my own separation, and we just stumbled in to each others life unexpectedly. We have been in a relationship for a year now, and are very happy together.

Moral of the story, you never know what life holds in store for you, and if I would have given up when all the odds were stacked against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

Thank you

Hey, I played the game and wanted to share some feedback about it :D

-The main concept/mechaninc of the doors opening once is quite interesting.

-Improving the main menu would be great :)

-A lot of paths lead you to the end of the game, I'll try to make more connections between them and just leave one that leads to the end of the game so you have to check a lot of the to get to the end.

-Some of the paths feel "empty" and some others feel very impresive and well thought.

In conclusion, the game is quite interesting on itself but with some work on it and giving some history around it would make it feel quite more solid :)

Regards.

Thank you, you make some great points. I don't know about adding narrative context, I'll give it a thought, but this game definitely needs a remake to make it a bit more solid

you are welcome :D, try getting inspired by games like Stanley Parable, something like that could fit the game :)
Regards

¿The game is about your old dreams or about the dreams or is about the dreams that you "dreamed" in the 4 months of game-making?

Anyway, its a good walking simulator, its even better that cyberpunk 2077 for ps4.

I believe that you can achieve great things if you try.

GG.

Thank you so much for your feedback. Some scenes are from older dreams and some from dreams I had during those four months. The shrinking black room  for example is an exact remake of a dream, the same goes for the pink hand inside the cupboard/safe. The pink hand was a visual metaphor for feelings and caring, for the tenderness of someone's touch. The two connected towers symbolize the connection between two people, the bridge is the bond between them and together they form one structure.

I'll be happy to answer any more questions or hear your interpretation of various scenes in the game

Is this a scary game

No it's not a horror game, it's not scary

oh ok thanks good game too!!!
